Gavin has worked in costs since 2003, initially as a Law Costs Draftsman before qualifying as a Costs Lawyer in 2015 after undertaking the Costs Lawyer training course. This required 3 years of study covering a wide range of topics in all areas of law and sitting final exams.
Before working in costs Gavin grew up in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside attending the local High School before studying Business Administration and graduating from Northumbria University in 2001.
Gavin deals with preparation of costs budgets, advises and assists with costs management of claims and deals with the preparation of costs pleadings to include applications, detailed bills of costs, electronic bills of costs, points of dispute and replies. As a Costs Lawyer Gavin can apply to go on the Court Record in order to deal with service of costs only and detailed assessment proceedings and has rights of audience to attend hearings in costs proceedings.
Gavin is a member of the Association of Costs Lawyers.
In his spare time Gavin enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf. He has a keen interest in many other sports, particularly football, but that is restricted to watching nowadays rather than playing.
